Mrs. Anis Haroon

Mrs. Anis Haroon is the chairperson of NCSW. She has done masters in International relations and L.L.B from Karachi University. She started her career as Teacher under Graduate students in (1969-70). After that she joined Akhbar-e-khawateen in 1970 as an Assistant Editor. Anis Haroon selected by UN to attend International Family Planning Conference in Bucharest, Romania in 1974. She represented Pakistan RCD Journalist conference in Ankara. She worked as Reporter/Feature writer "The Leader" Karachi (1978-79). Anis Haroon also worked on women Awareness programs from 1979 to date.

She has been writing articles on Women's Rights, Legal, Social and Political Issues since 1985. Anis Haroon Joined Aurat Foundation as Resident Director. She Played a Key role in providing relief to the victims of violence. Especially saving lives of women who were threatened to be killed under Karo-Kari, Shiasta Almani & Several others) The mission is to end violence against women. She has been an active member of Women’s Action Forum, since 1981. S

She is the Secretary General, Pakistan Chapter for Pak India people’s forum for peace and democracy. She is also the Founder Member of Pak-India People Forum in 1994. She is a member of Human Rights Commission, Pakistan Association for Mental Health, Pakistan, Women Lawyers Association. She was president of Aurat Foundation since 1994-2004.

She also worked as Secretary General SAP Int. Board (1995-1996).She worked as Consultant and Member National Committee of Aurat Foundation on 'Legislative Watch' and 'Political Education'(1996-1997).

Her book “Bara hai Dard ka Rishta” was published in 2000. She was selected among 100 women in was the world for promoting peace by a Swiss-Indian Women’s network for Nobel prize in 2005.

She has attended number of international conferences including Beijing in 1995.
