Punjab Ombudsperson's Meeting with Members of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) Punjab

Members of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) Punjab held a productive meeting with the newly appointed Punjab Ombudsperson, Dr. Najama Afzal, to extend warm congratulations and reaffirm a shared commitment to advancing safe and equitable workplaces for women.

The NCSW delegation was represented by Ms. Ume Laila Azhar, Dr. Ayra Indrias Patras, and Ms. Pushpa Kumari. The meeting was further enriched by the presence of Ms. Pushpa Kumari from the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

During the engagement, NCSW shared its strategic vision and ongoing initiatives focused on addressing workplace harassment, alongside key recommendations for strengthening the implementation of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act. Members highlighted persistent challenges observed on the ground, including gaps in complaint mechanisms, limited awareness among employees, and weak enforcement across both public and private sectors.

Both sides held detailed deliberations on enhancing institutional coordination, improving reporting and redressal systems, and fostering safe, respectful, and dignified work environments for women across Punjab.

NCSW looks forward to continued collaboration with the Office of the Ombudsperson to ensure that policy commitments are effectively translated into tangible protection and justice for women.
