A significant capacity-building training session was held at the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) Head Office on February 13, 2025, to bolster the capabilities of Programme Officers from the Women's Development Department (WDD) in Gilgit-Baltistan. Organized by the Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness, this initiative aimed to enhance WDD's capacity to design, implement, and advocate for programs promoting gender equality and Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE). During the session, Deputy Chief Ms. Shabana Nawaz delivered a comprehensive presentation on NCSW's functions, formation, and thematic areas, providing valuable insights into the Commission's work. The exchange of ideas session also included an exposure visit to NCSW, which enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of national efforts to promote women's rights and policy development. This capacity-building initiative is crucial for promoting gender equality and empowering women in Gilgit-Baltistan. By strengthening the capacity of WDD Programme Officers, it was aimed to create a more effective and responsive mechanism for addressing women's issues in the region. Similar capacity-building initiatives have been undertaken in Gilgit-Baltistan, such as the training workshop for journalists on environment and climate reporting. The Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) of Gilgit-Baltistan also focuses on capacity building and training for government officials. #empowerwomen #womenempowerment #Rights
