2022 - 16 Days Of Activisim Day 12 - Exhibition and Prize Distribution for the Poster Competition on the theme of Ending Femicide 10th Dec 2022:
With the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), we at the NCSW held an exhibition and prize distribution for the poster competition on the theme of ending femicide, to commemorate 16 Days of Activism. We were so grateful to have Noor Mukaddam’s parents, Mrs. and Mr. Shaukat Mukaddam as chief guests for this event.
Today is World Human Rights Day and the last day for the 16 Days of Activism. Throughout the 16 days we focused on the theme of femicide, the killing of women because she is a woman. 81 000 women have been killed due to violence and there have been 1000 honour killings every year, a statistic which is dractically unreported.
Noor's mother, Ms. Kausar Mukaddam, highlighted her full trust in the justice system of Pakistan. Her father, Mr. Shaukat Mukaddam emphasized that this violence against women will not end until we stand up together against it and how grateful he was for the support given to him by the nation.
50 students from all over Islamabad participated in this competition and received certificates for their submissions. The top three submissions received certificates and financial awards.
