Seminar on 'End Violence against Women, Now!" Kinnaird College/Alhamra Art Council Lahore-3rd Dec 2021

National Commission on The Status of Women (NCSW) in collaboration with Care intl., PCSW, APWA, UN
Women, Bardasht organized the women entrepreneur Mela, poster exhibition by students of Lahore
College, and plays & debates by Kinnard College and GCU, in a daylong event at Alhamra Art Council to
highlight the importance of Economic Justice role in Combating Violence against Women. To witness the
Prize Ceremony Chief Guest Ms. Ashifa Riaz Fatyana, Chairperson National Commission, Ms Nilofar
Bakhtiar, was present.
As 16 days drive on violence against women moves across country, therefore NCSW has been
conducting series of events. Chairperson NCSW Ms. Nilofar Bakhtiar manages to seek attention of key
stakeholders nationwide.
Chairperson, NCSW, remains focused on professing the mandate and scope of The National Commission
Status of Women. The commission aims to strengthen local authorities’ capacity to respond to cases of
violence in compliance with Law on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic
violence. There's a need to formulate a consensus on strengthening in-service training for legal and law
enforcement professionals, including, prosecutors, police and gendarmerie, and for support service
providers and other public officials through revision and development of training programmes and
through conducting training of trainers, and cascade trainings.
