Ms. Noureen Bano Lehri Appointed as Acting Chairperson, NCSW
March 25 2026: Ms. Noureen Bano Lehri has been appointed as Acting Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), following approval by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A member of the Commission from Balochistan, Ms. Noureen Bano Lehri’s appointment reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening institutional leadership for the promotion and protection of women’s rights across the country.
The NCSW also acknowledged the services of outgoing Acting Chairperson Ume Laila Azhar, who held the position for around 17 months. Her tenure was marked by significant contributions toward enhancing the Commission’s advocacy and institutional role. She will continue to serve as a Member from Punjab, ensuring continuity in the Commission’s work.
Under the new leadership, the National Commission on the Status of Women reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and safeguarding women’s rights in Pakistan.
